  • Overview

    Ensures the Company laundry service is run in an organized and efficient manner within a safe and clean environment.  Attains and maintains the required standards of the Company. Assists with other responsibilities as required.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages (plans, directs, supervises, evaluates, rewards, and disciplines) all tasks performed by laundry personnel.
    • Organizes and develops efficient work schedules while maintaining a clean and efficient workplace.
    • Trains laundry associates in all areas of linen care and quality of the finished product.
    • Monitors progress of daily tasks and fosters a feeling of teamwork among staff.
    • Works closely with Location Managers, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and drivers to ensure needs are being met.
    • Monitors truck schedules with the various locations to make sure that the needs are satisfied.
    • Retains proper controls on inventory of linen and supplies.
    • Ensures accuracy of hours worked in Time-Force, for payroll department.
    • Works within the budget allowances set by GPI.
    • Makes sure equipment is being maintained in proper operating order.
    • Follows all safety instruction set forth by GPI.
    • Works closely and in a timely manner with People & Culture with regards to staffing, documentation, performance reviews, etc.
    • Performs the function of laundry associate or Driver, when necessary.
    • Enforces and follows all Company policies and regulations.
    • Assists in other departments or with other job duties as requested or necessary.

    Qualifications

    Ideal Experience 

    • Working knowledge of a commercial laundry operation with at least 2-3 years of management experience required.
    • Must possess ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with immediate staff and all levels of management within the Company.
    • Must have ability to organize, motivate and coach a diverse team.
    • Demonstrates a commitment to the quality standards learned during training.
    • Must complete mandatory training provided by Lodging Operations Manager that includes the understanding of HOW-WHAT-WHEN-WHY use of approved/authorized detergents, chemicals and commercial laundry equipment.
    • Must be able to work varied shifts.
    • Must be friendly, outgoing, enthusiastic and courteous in dealing with guests and co-workers.
    • Must be able to lift heavy bundles of linen, sometimes in excess of 50 lbs.
    • Monitors progress to promote efficiency and productivity.
    • Must be able to schedule workload to maintain required distribution needs.
    • Possess ability to train employees in all areas of linen care and quality of the finished product.

    Work Environment

    • Commercial laundry operation in a National Park hotel environment.
    • Open assembly line, machine environment.
    • Machines are mostly manual in nature.
    • Machine noise is present from washers, dryers and folders operating at various pitches throughout the day.
    • Area is not climate controlled. Varying degrees of temperature encountered.
    • Detergents/chemicals are present that could create the need for gloves and/or breathing safety devices.
    • Must be able to follow directions and execute tasks as requested.
    • Job requires constant standing, walking, bending, lifting in excess of 50 lbs., carrying, stretching and moving.
    • Non-smoking environment.
