  • Overview

    The Culinary Foodservice Worker (CFW) is an entry level position.  Assists in preparing foods and beverages for guests and staff, including food production, cleaning of work and service areas, equipment, and utensils, set up and service of staff meals and collection of garbage and trash.  Helps prepare a range of hot and cold food items.  Assists in prep work such as chopping, slicing, arranging and traying of items for cooking.  Assists in the organization and sanitation of the kitchen by cleaning equipment, washing dishes, and putting away orders.  Works to ensure a positive dining experience for all GPC guests and staff. Assists with other duties as assigned.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    • Arrives to work on time and in proper uniform.
    • Receives instructions from supervisor at start of shift.
    • Assists Manager and Cooks in daily preparation of menu items.
    • Preps food items according to prep list for assigned station.
    • Replenishes food, beverages, condiments, silverware, glassware, dishes, and trays at serving stations.
    • Follows prescribed procedures in setting up hot and cold food lines.
    • Arranges proper utensils, and sets steam line to appropriate temperature for menu items.
    • Conveys food and supplies from main kitchen to serving site in a variety of methods, including by carrying, by utilizing a cart, by elevator, etc.
    • Provided courteous service of staff meals in employee dining room (EDR).
    • Keeps work areas clean and stocked between all meal periods.
    • Cleans and maintains work areas, facilities, utensils, and equipment including floors; collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers.
    • May instruct and provide training to other employees assisting in department.
    • Works dish machine to properly and safely clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and glassware.
    • Completes GPC Sanitation program.
    • Adheres to all GPC company hotel policies and regulations.
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
    • Assists with other duties as requested.

    Ideal Experience

    • Culinary training, restaurant or foodservice experience helpful.
    • Previous professional kitchen or cooking experience preferred.
    • Must learn and comprehend proper food safety, sanitation policies and safety procedures.
    • Must be able to perform all manual aspects of kitchen operation inclusive of dish machine operations.
    • Must have the ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
    • Must be able to read and write clearly.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and respectfully.
    • Strong interpersonal skills required.
    • Must have a positive attitude and “can do “work ethic.
    • Must be respectful of diversity and possess the ability to work effectively with all experience levels of staff
    • Must be team oriented, positive and upbeat

    Work Environment

    • High volume Kitchen production in a hotel setting. 
    • National Park setting.
    • Climate control equipment may or may not be present.
    • Position requires working in varying degrees of temperature, including within coolers and freezers.
    • Position requires sharing space and equipment with other kitchen personnel.
    • Job requires standing for long periods, walking, bending, handling, reaching, grasping, occasionally to frequently lifting up to 50 lbs., and repetitive motions.
    • Kitchen environment may have times of high noise levels.
    • Non-smoking environment.
    • Flexible schedules and varied shifts, AM/PM, split shifts, weekend and holidays required.

    Exposure to hazardous materials and cleaning products may occur – knowledgeable and able to practice injury/accident prevention methods.
