    Position:                                 People & Culture Generalist

    Status:                                    Full-Time, Year-Round, Salaried

Reports To:                            Director, People & Culture
    Direct/Indirect Reports:     None

    Location:                                East Glacier (summer months)

                                                     Columbia Falls (winter months)

A People & Culture (P&C) Generalist wears a lot of hats.  This job is fast-paced and never boring.  Work includes a wide range of employment related functions and activities.  From helping to attract, interview, and hire adventurous team members to spend a summer in Glacier National Park, to assisting with business processes and admin functions, the P&C Generalist is a key utility player for our team.  The right P&C Generalist helps us coordinate and communicate with employees about their arrival, steps included in onboarding, hands-on processing of all employee-related info, and providing overall support across the year.

    • Coordinate Glacier Park Collection (GPC) staffing needs for multiple guest lodges with creativity and fun.
    • Focus on adding value so that staff wants to return season-after-season.
    • Coach our managers, supervisors and staff to navigate through P&C-related details as accurately as possible.
    • Help our teams connect with Pursuit’s Mission and Core Values and learn how we can each bring them to life every day.
    • Support Directors, Managers and Supervisors by assisting with screening and hiring decisions when asked.
    • Help us post any job openings quickly and ensure the application process is simple enough that it’s easy to understand.
    • Be sure to ask candidates “how did you hear about us?” and track responses.
    • Become a cheerleader for GPC and Pursuit, whether it’s in the office, at recruiting events, in career centers, or just every day working with our teams. Bring the wow!
    • Be mobile, willing and able to travel to different GPC locations when needed.
    • Make the arrival experience for new and returning staff fun and easy – not confusing and frustrating.
    • Think about any fun GPC and National Park trivia that might be interesting to staff.
    • Push paper quickly and make it right – making sure everything flows and mistakes are few and far between.
    • Assist with internal communications so everyone has the information they need.
    • Help with creating reward & recognition programs that make staff feel good.
    • Understand the GPC map – helping to organize projects that may come up in Columbia Falls, Whitefish, West Glacier, East Glacier or at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Canada.
    • Take the high road and bring energy when explaining the kind of dry stuff. Find ways to make rules, policies and regulations easy to digest and less boring.

This list describes a lot of what a P&C Generalist does, but no job description can anticipate every single issue that could come up.  Pursuit and the Glacier Park Collection might need to reduce, add or change job tasks from time to time.

    • Have some experience in recruiting, hospitality or resorts.
    • Know a little bit (or a lot) about restaurant, hotel, travel, or tourism businesses.
    • Have some experience handling guest or staff challenges with creativity and humor.
    • Have some education in your tool belt – High School, College, or Technical training is helpful to prepare for this job.
    • Be organized and not scattered.
    • Be flexible and go with the flow -- curve balls will be coming your way.
    • Be clear and use your voice. Communicating verbally and in writing is a big part of this job.
    • Know how to use some office tools – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, Social Media, and a few others may be part of this job.
    • Know how to handle private information – some things in P&C are really confidential.
    • Be prepared – this role requires legal ability to work in the United States.
    • Love travel – moving around GPC, including the occasional trip across the Canadian border will happen.
    • Hold a valid U.S. Passport and Standard Driver’s license
    • Ready to move? This job is based at East Glacier Park, MT during the summer season (May-Sep) if needed.
    • FYI - staff housing & meals are provided during summer if living in East Glacier!

To handle this job successfully, any person hired has to be able to perform each task well. GPC will make any reasonable accommodation possible to help a person with disabilities to perform their job.  This job is based in Montana with Pursuit’s Glacier Park Collection.  Pursuit is an equal opportunity employer.
